This installation reflects on how the signs which are part of our everyday urban landscape can be transformed into a cultural experience. cabosanroque and Studio Animal  turn 49 traffic lights into works of art, freeing them from their signification as traffic controllers and causing the three iconic lights to blend and play with the rhythm of sound, giving rise to an infinite gradient palette in transition from red to green. This creates an immersive space that invites the viewer to embark on a journey between movement and stillness.

Based between Madrid and Barcelona and directed by Javier Jiménez Iniesta, Studio Animal is a studio that specialises in temporary architecture and interior design which explores new ways of inhabiting space. It has received awards such as the FAD (2023 and 2024), ROOM 2024 and FRAME Award 2024.

cabosanroque is a duo consisting of Laia Torrents Carulla and Roger Aixut Sampietro. Focusing on sound and technology, their work explores tensions between disciplines—music, theatre and visual art—and poses questions regarding exhibition spaces and formats. Their pieces are presented at institutions like the Centre Pompidou, CCCB and Théâtre Garonne, Cité de l’Architecture and Cabañas Museum, among others.

Location

Nave de Terneras is part of the former municipal slaughterhouse designed in the early 20th century by Luis Bellido. It is a large, industrial-style building with a metal structure built in the Neo-Mudéjar style, and its purpose has changed since then. The space now hosts cultural activities and is part of the Casa del Reloj complex.
