NAGER LA NUIT
Cédric Le Borgne
France
From 12 to 14 March
From 7.30pm to midnight

This installation invites us to pause and contemplate the urban landscape visible between the River Manzanares and the sky, two iconic symbols of Madrid. Illuminated with poetic sensitivity, large metal mesh sculptures shaped like koi, birds and other creatures explore their environment, suspended in the air. Engaging with movement, time and space, the installation provides a sensory experience with a social message that its creator, Cédric Le Borgne, describes as follows: the city is the territory of “living together.”
Cédric Le Borgne was born in Paris, lives in Toulouse and graduated from the Applied Arts programme at ENS Paris-Saclay. His work reflects his inquisitive and adventurous spirit and includes installations, sculptures, photography, videos and performance art which explore space, movement and perception, moving from the real to the poetic. His interventions in public spaces have travelled the world, transforming everyday moments and places into invitations for emotion and reflection.

Location
Dam number 8 is part of the system of dikes built at the beginning of the 20th century to control the flow of the River Manzanares as it passes through Madrid. Now integrated into the landscape of Madrid Río Park, the Herrerian-style infrastructure combines engineering, water and public space. Technical history coexists with citizen usage and the life that has sprung up after renaturing the surrounding area.
