

Developed in close collaboration with composer Philip Corner, Passage Through: A Ritual is one of the most radical films by Stan Brakhage, an experimental filmmaker who returned cinema to its raw, unmediated roots. More than just a screening, the film functions as a meditative act. The screen remains mostly black, interrupted only by flashes, shadows of foliage and rapid glimpses of everyday life—a contemplative experience guided by minimalist piano music. Cineteca brings this contemporary ritual to LuzMadrid2026 in a special session of its Confessional series, curated by avant-garde filmmaker Pablo Marín.
